Dancehall icon Bounty Killer celebrated a significant milestone this Tuesday, returning to the United States for the first time in 15 years after his visa was reinstated. The artist, known as the Warlord, shared his joy on social media, reflecting on the journey that led to this moment.

“God’s greatness is unmatched,” he wrote. “In March 2010, my visa was revoked for reasons still unknown to me. Now, 15 years later, I stand on American soil again, without any complications. I remained true to myself, steadfast, and resilient, never compromising my integrity.”

Bounty Killer shared a photo of himself on the plane, expressing gratitude to God for the breakthrough. He also acknowledged the support of his late mother, Ms. Ivey, the US Consulate General, US Embassy staff, his lawyer, and his fans. He gave special thanks to Paul ‘Bankey’ Giscombe for his unwavering efforts in restoring his visa.

“Bankey, your persistence never wavered, even when we faced countless rejections. Thank you for your dedication,” Bounty Killer wrote.

Vybz Kartel, who also had his US visa reinstated earlier this year, celebrated the news with a plane emoji and the hashtag #GodIsTheGreatest.

Bounty Killer’s visa troubles began in 2010 when the United States revoked his visa, along with those of fellow dancehall artists Beenie Man, Sizzla, Aidonia, and Mavado. Selector Ricky Trooper also faced similar issues. While Aidonia, Sizzla, and Mavado eventually had their visas restored, Bounty Killer’s challenges persisted.

“We’re here! I’ll see you all soon,” Bounty Killer announced, marking his return.

In a September 2024 interview with Gaza Uncle and DJ Everlina on YouTube, Bounty Killer opened up about the impact of his travel restrictions. He described the situation as “devastating” to his career and personal life, noting that most of his fanbase and family reside in the US.

“Life goes on, and you have to keep living,” he said. “I still don’t understand why my visa was denied for so long, and the embassy never provided a clear explanation. Despite these challenges, I’ve managed to persevere.”
